Examinations - What if I get sick and cannot write my test or exams?

Nokwazi Maseko -

If you miss a formal examination and have a good excuse for this, you may apply to write the deferred examination at a later date. Students applying for a deferred examination must complete an application form online and submit this within 3 days after the date of the examination
• Decisions on the granting of deferred examinations are normally made by the Assistant Dean
• Deferments are only granted for personal illness, family tragedies, religious holidays and circumstances beyond the student’s control.
• The date for the deferred examination is set by the school or discipline/department and students who have been granted a deferral are responsible for establishing the date with the relevant academic department.
• A deferred examination will not be earlier than 7 days after the examination has taken place and not later than the first week of the following semester.
Note: Missed tests or assignments must be referred to the school or academic department for an extension. The relevant supporting documentation must be submitted to the school or acaemic department for consideration.

You should apply for a deferred examination- contact your faculty office.
